Behind the creation of Emanation

Hello everyone, my name is Adam Hurley, and I love Larping. I have NPCed, PCed, and staffed a large variety of games over the years, and have even made a career around writing and running a Larp program for children. The funny thing is I still remember the words of a dear friend after I refused to even consider trying larping some 17 years ago: “Adam, you’ll love it really, and if for some reason you don’t: I promise to admit I was wrong and never bring it up again”. That person of course was John Wilson. John Wilson was the President of my college Roleplaying club, and he brought me to my first Larp (Nero Ravenholt), unsurprisingly he did not in fact ever end up having to admit he was wrong.

I loved John, his massive intimidating size betrayed his nature as one the kindest and gentlest people I have ever known. He was funny, mischievous, thoughtful, and a joy to all who knew him. I looked up to him, and loved him like a big brother. John passed away in 2019, and his looming presence isn’t going away anytime soon. John was a massive influence on me and I want to do something positive with the hobby he introduced me to.

Emananation will be dedicated in his honor and memory. With the blessing and support of his widow: Coco Wilson; All proceeds made (after expenses) will be donated to Good Shepherd Food Bank: www.gsfb.org in his name. Whether you knew John or not, please join us for a weekend of fun, thrills, maybe a scream or two; and to use our shared passion to do something good.

As this event is a charity we will not have a fixed price for PCing. We will post a suggested donation amount when we are ready to open registrations, but if you have the means to donate more: know you are enabling those with less income a chance of participating as well as contributing to charity. For those who may wish to be an NPC or may not be able to participate, donations are optional but very welcome.
